About Maddie

The Happy Celebrant

Myself and My Goals

Hi, my name is Maddie, I am an Independent Celebrant based in Northamptonshire. I trained with the Academy of Modern Celebrants and I am a member of The Association of Independent Celebrants, this means that I am professional, fully trained and accredited, as well as being fully insured.

Before I was a celebrant, I was a Primary School teacher, where I LOVED bringing a smile to the children’s faces as they learnt in the safe, fun environment that I created for them. As a celebrant I bring that same enthusiasm to the couples, individuals and families that I work with. Whether it’s a joyful celebration of a couple’s commitment to each other, or the final farewell to a loved one, I try to make sure that my ceremonies bring a smile to your face, as we focus on and celebrate the happy moments.

During my working life, I have worked with a range of both children and adults with disabilities, sometimes these were visible but not always. I am proud of the work I carried out in my community supporting those living with memory loss, and where I undertook the training to become a ‘Dementia Friend‘. I have also registered with the ‘Sunflower Scheme‘ to show that I am committed to accommodating the needs of those living with hidden medical conditions.

I was raised as a Christian in a small Baptist Church and those values and beliefs have stayed with me and influenced my own philosophy to ‘live kindly’, it means I always try to do the right thing, to be honest and trustworthy. It also means that I am hugely respectful of the beliefs and values of others, and I love to incorporate faith-based and cultural traditions into my ceremonies.

I’m a MASSIVE animal-lover and I have been honoured to care for a range of small animals over the years, I eventually became known as ‘the animal rescuer’ and I would regularly be asked to help poorly hedgehogs, escaped ferrets, lost racing pigeons, chickens that needed rehoming and many more besides! This led to me becoming a fully-committed vegan and also becoming more conscious of the harm being done to our planet and me trying to play my small part at reducing this and making eco-friendly choices wherever possible.

My Commitment to the Environment

I believe that protecting the environment is one of the most important responsibilities we have. Consumption depletes precious resources and harms ecosystems, so I do my best to reuse and recycle as much as possible. Small, mindful choices add up, and I want my actions to reflect the kind of world I want to live in.

That’s also why I subscribe to Ecologi, a company dedicated to reforestation efforts around the world. Every ceremony I lead, funds the purchase of another tree that will be planted as part of reforestation projects around the world. It feels good knowing that my contributions help restore forests, support biodiversity, and make a real difference in the fight against climate change.
